Description

International Coatings Foil Adhesive 3801 is a plastisol adhesive designed to produce brilliant metallic foil effects on textiles. It can be used on light or dark garments made from 100% cotton and some cotton/polyester blends.

Foil Adhesive 3801 can be printed directly onto the garment before applying foil to the dried adhesive. It can also be printed directly onto the foil in a mirror image for conventional transfer applications. The adhesive is ready to use straight from the container and should be stirred thoroughly before each use.

Application Guidelines

  • Mesh: 74-110 threads per inch
  • T-shirts: 86-110 threads per inch recommended
  • Sweatshirts: 74-86 threads per inch recommended
  • Squeegee: 60-75 durometer with a sharp or beveled edge
  • Direct-print cure: 325°F (163°C) throughout the entire adhesive layer
  • Transfer printing: 240°F-275°F (116°C-135°C)
  • Cleanup: Use an eco-friendly plastisol screen wash

Foil Application

  • Place the foil colored side up and dull aluminum side against the adhesive.
  • Apply at 300°F-325°F (149°C-163°C) for 10-15 seconds.
  • Use medium pressure for T-shirts and medium-to-heavy pressure for sweatshirts.
  • Allow the transfer to cool completely for 20-30 seconds.
  • Slowly remove the foil carrier sheet after cooling.

Care Instructions

For the best durability, wash the garment inside out by hand or on a delicate machine cycle. Line dry or air dry. Do not use bleach or iron the decorated area. Test application temperatures and wash test the finished garment before and during production.
